The liminal stage, as Victor Turner teaches, is betwixt and between, neither here nor there, a time when initiates are no longer what they were and not yet who they will become. Lockdowns, quarantines, and the pandemic have also created a kind of limbo — when will it end? Who will we be when it’s all over?
