A Liminal Stage: Graduating Seniors on the Pandemic

The liminal stage, as Victor Turner teaches, is betwixt and between, neither here nor there, a time when initiates are no longer what they were and not yet who they will become. Lockdowns, quarantines, and the pandemic have also created a kind of limbo — when will it end? Who will we be when it’s all over?

These pieces were all created during the lockdowns and tentative re-openings by high school seniors looking forward to — fingers crossed — their first college semester.
